Teaching from the Heart (by Archbishop Thomas Collins)

The heart is boring in a profound, life-giving sense: it beats, beats, beats… It is boring like the mass – we don’t jazz it up – it gives life by its boring, faithful, quiet, steadiness. There’s no need to be extraordinary entertainers. There is need to love. Steady, quiet, deep, faithful, hidden

There is no room for duplicity here. One who is filled with the knowledge of Christ, through prayer, will speak what he knows and live what he speaks.

St. Francis de Sales and Cardinal Newman were very popular and effective preachers in their times. Many wondered at the key to their success. Looking at their lives the answer is simple: lips speak to the ears, heart speaks to heart.... (more...)
