The Teacher Who Loves The Lord

All Catholic educators of the archdiocese are invited to take time this Lent to reflect on their vocation as teacher. Our special guest will be Archbishop Michael Miller CSB, former Secretary of the Vatican’s Congregation for Catholic Education and author of The Holy See’s Teaching on Catholic Schools.

Mass will be celebrated. Lunch and hospitality are included in the cost.

A Book Club For Teachers

Come join your fellow Catholic teachers for reading, discussion and socializing! The Catholic Teachers Guild sponsors a Book Club which meets at the Newman Centre on the first Monday of the month in the evening from 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm. This year, we will be continuing with the book,

Our first session will be on November 2 followed by meetings on Dec 7, Jan 4, Feb 1, March 1, April 12, and May 3 and June 7.

Dear Friend in Education,

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for all that you continue to do as a Catholic educator in our Archdiocese. Your vocation is an important one, which helps to shape and form the lives of our young people.

To celebrate and affirm this vocation, I would like to invite you to join me for this year’s Education Mass, which will be celebrated on Thursday, September 3, 2009 at St. Paul’s Basilica in Toronto at 6:30 p.m. This annual gathering provides an opportunity for all Catholic educators of the diocese to gather as one, united in the Eucharist. This mass is also an occasion to give thanks and to seek God’s blessing for the coming academic year.

All Catholics of the Archdiocese who labour in the vineyard of education, from the preschool to the post-secondary level, whether in Catholic, public or private institutions, are invited to join us and pray for one another in our common ministry. This is a Eucharistic celebration for teachers, and all those who, in various ways, play a role in supporting teachers in their vocation.

Following mass we will also have a dinner for those who wish to join us where we will continue our fellowship and reflection (see flyer for additional details). By sending this communication to you in June, I wanted you to have ample time to schedule this important event in your calendar.

I look forward to gathering with the educational community on September 3rd and would be most pleased if you could join us. Thank you for all that you continue to do to bear witness, to collaborate and contribute to the critical vocation of education.
